Kirirom National Park

The last weekend in October as other's were heading to harvest party's and gearing up for Halloween with the kids I was spending the day with some of my housemates. We decided to take a day trip to a National Park just a couple hours outside the city. This involved 5 of the 7 of us squeezing into a car that only had 4 seats. When we arrived at Kirirom Park the weather was amazing (cool and breezy) and I loved driving through the trees. It looked and felt like a forest I might find somewhere in America. We spent some time at a look out location before heading off to eat our picnic lunch.

I love Mountains!
One of the cool things about being here was what the local girls were making and selling...flower crowns. Of course we all bought one as they were only 50 cents a piece. Here are some pictures of a girl making one and us wearing them.

I felt very psychedelic in my flower wreath and kept thinking about the High School Musical my school did my Senior year. I played the piano for them and all the songs kept trying to creep back into my head. For lunch we found an area where they put up little eating huts that are open but you just sit on the wooden floor with a mat. This is all very Khmer style of eating but it was fun sitting next to the water. We had cooked chicken, rice, cucumbers and homemade banana bread for our meal. It was so good! Then Ra pulled out his guitar and him and I took turns playing and leading Praise and Worship songs.

After lunch we found a big waterfall to hike down to before leaving the park. I don't have those pictures currently but it was fun. I even found a plant that closes it's leaves when you touch it. I would have taken a video but I left my camera in the car :( It was a fun day and we were all very tired by the time we got home. It was even cold out which was surprising and to top it off the weather stayed cool the whole next week. And when I say cold  the temperature went from the usual 86-89 down to 74-77...I am going to freeze when I get home!

Sochea with those flowers is too funny. And, I have to say that it is really fun that I know everyone in your pictures (except Jessica)...

How cool that you got to play a guitar!!! I bet you miss it, and I am guessing it felt really good to play again!!

And yes, you ARE going to freeze...because I am freezing almost all day every day no matter how many layers I wear...I just am not made for cold weather...and it is not even "cold" yet!! Ha!
