Baseball

This past Saturday Dan and went to Cincinnati for a Reds game. We spent the morning doing our fantasy football draft and then headed to Gas City to pick up Jason and Angie. We were hoping to get to the game in time to get the free glasses they were passing out but were sad to learn were did not get there in time. They were doing a special weekend to honor Barry Larkin who will be put into the Hall of Fame and played for Cincinnati. We had good seats but they were right in the sun...so about the 6th inning we found other open seats that were in the shade.

Really Pretty flowers :)

After the game we went to get Grater's Ice cream and listened to live music in the square while we ate. The drive back was uneventful and we ended the evening by grabbing some food in Muncie before heading home. And yesterday we got to go to a TinCaps game here in Fort Wayne. I think this is the most baseball we have watched in one week all summer!

A New Friend

This past weekend we had a couple showings for our house. So on Saturday night after my 2 hour praise team practise for church we headed out to grab some dinner and a movie while the house was being shown. While we were eating Dan looked up what was showing at the drive in, we had gone with friends last summer but have not yet made it this summer. We were excited to learn that the movie we were going to go see was playing that night. So we headed back to our house to grab blankets and chairs in case we wanted to sit outside. I also wanted to change into jeans, grab a sweatshirt, and get different shoes.

As I was in the bathroom I heard something from under the sink. Puzzled I thought it might be a mouse or maybe I was hearing things. So I pulled out our trash can and didn't see anything. I had put my hand in the trash can to move some trash when out of the bottom came a little grey mouse! I screamed at the top of my lungs, being quite taken off guard. Dan came running (his heart pounding and thinking I had found a dead body or someone was in the house) and saw the mouse but didn't have any way of catching it before it ran back into the hole around our water pipe.

As there was nothing we could do about it we changed, packed up, and went to the drive in. We watched The Dark Knight Rises (our second time) and then saw The Campaign (the one we were going to see anyways). But as it has to be dark to watch a movie at a drive in things didn't get started till after 9pm...so we didn't get home till about 2:45am. When we got home I grabbed a new Wal-Mart bag to put in the trash can in the bathroom (we had removed the other one so as to discourage the mouse). I wasn't sure if I would see the mouse again but pulled the trash can out and made a loud gasping/stifled scream sound...the mouse was back in the trash can. But this time he was stuck because there was no bag in it.

Dan put a shirt over the top and was going to release him outside...I protested as our little friend would just come right back into the house. So we got in the car and drove down the road and dropped the mouse off at a church across the street from our house. Now he can be a church mouse if he wants...he just needs to stay out of our house!

No animals were injured in the making of this post

The last couple weeks

The last few weeks have been busy for us. We went for a weekend to my parent's family camp, the camp I grew up going to in the summer and a very special place to me. It was fun getting to share it with Dan and to have my pastor from Marion there as the speaker. We also went to the last day of the Three Rivers Festival to eat a funnel cake and watch the fireworks downtown, which was very fun and a great way to spend a summer night.

And then last Wednesday when I was driving to work I saw that a Circus had come in that morning and setting up for shows that afternoon and evening. When I got home from work I asked Dan if he wanted to go... after eating a quick dinner we went to the Circus. The last time I was at the Circus I was a kid and it wasn't in a tent in a field (like this one) but in a building in Grand Rapids. This felt like the real deal :)

Toys and of course Elephant ears :)

Camel Rides :)

In the tent

Start of the show

Just like the Wii game :) catching rings while balancing

Amazing Hula Hooper!

Stage one...getting in

Stage two...closing the box!

Of course they had elephants!

It was a fun and very random way to spend a Wednesday night :)
